We have found that Australian teachers want three main questions answered about service-learning:
- What is it? (you don’t want “add-ons” to an already full curriculum).
- Does it really work? (you want to know that it has a strong evidence-base).
- How can I get these results for my students? (you want a clear understanding of the elements of good quality service-learning, and guidance on how to implement them).
Service-Learning Australia hopes this web site will start to answer your questions.
The web site provides service-learning practitioners with:
- service-learning tools, resources, research and best practice examples from Australian schools
- encouragement and opportunity for you to share service-learning ideas
- networking and mentoring opportunities for experienced and beginning service-learning teachers
- opportunities to meet on-line through email discussion groups - one for primary schools, one for secondary schools and one for the Hunter/Central Coast Service-Learning Network.
- a regular newsletter
- the opportunity for your students to make a video of their service projects for Service-Learning Australia’s You Tube site.
